Battery Health 3 runs natively on Apple Silicon Macs (M1, M2, M3, M4).

Battery management differences

Apple Silicon Macs have different battery management than Intel Macs. Maximum capacity readings on Apple Silicon Macs generally remain higher for longer due to improved battery management. If Battery Health 3 shows the battery at 100% capacity on a brand new Mac, that is correct and expected.

Optimised Battery Charging

Optimised Battery Charging is an Apple feature (not Battery Health 3) that limits charging to 80% to extend battery lifespan. Battery Health 3 will show this state accurately.

Cycle count

Battery cycle count works the same way on Apple Silicon as Intel. A cycle is completed after 100% total discharge, spread across any number of sessions.

Energy Hogs

The energy impact readings work identically on Apple Silicon, though you may notice lower overall energy usage compared to Intel Macs.
