Energy Hogs
Learn how the Energy Hogs feature in Battery Health 3 shows which apps are using the most energy on your Mac.
What are Energy Hogs?
The Energy Hogs section in Battery Health 3 shows you which apps are consuming the most energy on your Mac. Energy usage is displayed as a percentage, making it easy to see at a glance which apps are the biggest drain on your battery.

How It Works
Battery Health 3 monitors energy usage across all running apps over a rolling five-minute window. The apps using the highest proportion of energy during that period are listed in the Energy Hogs section, ranked from most to least energy consumed.
Reducing Energy Consumption
If you notice an app consuming a large share of energy and you are not actively using it, you can quit it to help extend your battery life. This is especially useful when you are running on battery power and want to maximize your remaining time.
Browsers, video players, and apps performing background tasks are common energy hogs. Closing unnecessary tabs or pausing background activity can make a noticeable difference.
