Getting an Error Downloading from the Mac App Store?
Troubleshooting steps for Mac App Store download and update errors with FIPLAB apps.
If you are seeing an error when trying to download or update one of our apps from the Mac App Store, the issue is almost always on Apple's side. Here are the steps to resolve it.
Troubleshooting Steps
1. Wait and try again
Mac App Store outages are not uncommon. Wait 15-30 minutes and try the download again. You can check Apple's system status at apple.com/support/systemstatus.
2. Sign out of the App Store and sign back in
- Open the App Store.
- Click Store in the menu bar, then choose Sign Out.
- Restart your Mac.
- Open the App Store again and sign in with your Apple Account.
- Try the download again.
3. Check your internet connection
- Make sure you have a stable internet connection.
- If you are on Wi-Fi, try switching to a wired connection or a different network.
- Disable any VPN or proxy that might interfere with the connection to Apple's servers.
4. Clear the App Store cache
- Quit the App Store.
- Open Finder, click Go in the menu bar, then Go to Folder.
- Type
~/Library/Caches/com.apple.appstoreand press Enter. - Delete the contents of that folder.
- Restart your Mac and try downloading again.
5. Re-download from your purchase history
If an update is failing, try deleting the app and re-downloading it from scratch:
- Move the app to the Trash and empty it.
- Open the App Store and click your profile icon in the bottom-left corner.
- Find the app in your purchase history and click the download button.
Make sure you are signed in with the same Apple Account you used to originally purchase the app so you are not charged again.
Still Not Working?
If none of the above steps help, the issue may be specific to your Apple Account. In that case, we recommend contacting Apple Support directly, as we do not have access to Mac App Store order or account information on our end.
You are also welcome to contact us and we will do our best to help.
