How Clipboard History Works

CopyClip 2 automatically captures every piece of text you copy and stores it in a scrollable history. This means you always have access to previously copied text, even if you've copied something else since.

How Clips Are Stored

Every time you copy or cut text, CopyClip 2 adds it to the top of your clip list. The most recent clip always appears first. Older clips move down the list as new ones are added.

You can store up to 9,999 clips at a time. Once the limit is reached, the oldest clips are automatically removed to make room for new ones.

Navigating Your Clip History

As your clip list grows, it will spread across multiple pages. You can navigate between pages using the arrow controls at the bottom of the CopyClip 2 panel.

Each clip is displayed with a preview of its text content and a number next to it. The number corresponds to a keyboard shortcut you can use for quick pasting.

Configuring the Clip Count

To change how many clips CopyClip 2 stores:

1. Open Settings by right-clicking the menu bar icon or pressing Cmd + , with the panel open.
2. Under the General tab, locate the clip count setting.
3. Choose a value up to a maximum of 9,999 clips.

Tip: If you find CopyClip 2 is removing clips you still need, increase the clip count in Settings. For clips you want to keep permanently, use the Pin feature.
