Getting Started with CopyClip 2

CopyClip 2 is a streamlined, text-based clipboard manager for your Mac. It runs discreetly from your menu bar, storing text and rich text that you copy or cut so you can quickly find and reuse past snippets.

First Launch

After downloading and opening CopyClip 2, it will appear in your Mac's menu bar as a small clipboard icon. There is no main application window -- CopyClip 2 lives entirely in the menu bar.

Click the menu bar icon (or press the hotkey, which defaults to Control + Space Bar) to open the CopyClip 2 panel. On first launch, you'll see an empty screen with the message "No Clips" and a search bar at the top.

Basic Copy and Paste Workflow

1. Select and copy any text using Cmd + C (or right-click and choose Copy).
2. The copied text automatically appears in CopyClip 2's clip list.
3. Open CopyClip 2 by clicking the menu bar icon or pressing the hotkey.
4. Double-click a clip to copy it back to your clipboard, or use a Cmd + Number shortcut to paste it directly.

As you continue copying text throughout the day, CopyClip 2 builds up a searchable history of your clips. You can store up to 9,999 clips at a time.

Tip: CopyClip 2 is text-only. It records plain text, rich text, URLs, and code snippets, but does not capture images or files.

Keeping CopyClip 2 Running

CopyClip 2 works best when it starts automatically with your Mac. You can enable this in Settings by turning on Start at Login. As long as the app is running in the background, every piece of text you copy will be captured.
