CopyClip 2 Stopped Recording

Fix CopyClip 2 when it stops capturing clipboard content.

If CopyClip 2 has stopped recording your clipboard history, work through the following steps to resolve the issue.

Check Recording Is Enabled

The most likely cause is that recording has been paused. Right-click the CopyClip 2 menu bar icon and check whether it says Start Recording or Stop Recording. If it says Start Recording, that means recording is currently paused — click it to resume.

Check Accessibility Permission

The most common cause is that the Accessibility permission was revoked or never granted. CopyClip 2 requires this permission to monitor the clipboard.

  1. Open System Settings > Privacy & Security > Accessibility.
  2. Make sure CopyClip 2 is listed and toggled ON.
  3. If it is already toggled on but still not working, toggle it OFF, quit CopyClip 2, toggle it back ON, then relaunch the app.

After a macOS update, permissions sometimes need to be re-granted. If the app was recently updated, macOS may prompt for Accessibility permission again — look for a system dialog that may be waiting for your response.

Verify the App Is Running

Check that CopyClip 2 is actually running by looking for its icon in the menu bar. If the icon is not visible, launch CopyClip 2 from your Applications folder.

Re-add Accessibility Permission

If none of the above steps work, try removing CopyClip 2 from the Accessibility list entirely:

  1. Open System Settings > Privacy & Security > Accessibility.
  2. Select CopyClip 2 and remove it from the list.
  3. Quit CopyClip 2.
  4. Relaunch CopyClip 2 — macOS will prompt you to grant Accessibility permission again.
  5. Grant the permission and confirm that clipboard recording resumes.
