Troubleshooting CopyClip 2
Fix common issues with CopyClip 2.
This article covers solutions to common issues with CopyClip 2.
Paste Not Working After Clicking a Clip
CopyClip 2 needs Accessibility permission to paste directly into applications. Check System Settings > Privacy & Security > Accessibility and make sure CopyClip 2 is toggled on.
If direct paste still fails after confirming the permission, try using the keyboard shortcut Cmd+V after clicking a clip as a workaround.
Sensitive Data Showing in History
Use the Exceptions feature to prevent sensitive content from being recorded. Go to Settings > Exceptions and add any password managers, banking apps, or other applications that handle sensitive data. CopyClip 2 will not record clipboard content copied from those apps.
History Disappeared
Check Settings > General and verify the number of clips to remember. If the app was updated or reinstalled, history may have been reset. There is no way to recover lost history.
Menu Bar Icon Missing
The app may have been pushed off the visible area of the menu bar by other apps. Try holding Cmd and dragging menu bar icons to rearrange them, or quit other menu bar apps to free space. You can also try relaunching CopyClip 2.
App Using Too Much Memory
If you have a very large history (several thousand clips), memory usage may increase over time. To reduce memory consumption:
- Lower the clip count in Settings > General.
- Clear old clips from your history periodically using Delete All Clips in Settings.
