Upgrading from CopyClip 1

CopyClip 2 is a separate app from the original CopyClip. This guide covers what to expect when making the switch.

Is CopyClip 1 a Paid App?

No. CopyClip 1 has always been completely free on the Mac App Store. There was never a purchase price or in-app purchase associated with it. If you believe you paid for CopyClip 1, you may be thinking of a different app or confusing it with CopyClip 2.

Purchase and Licensing

CopyClip 2 is a separate, paid app. Because CopyClip 1 was free, there is no upgrade pricing or transfer of purchase. CopyClip 2 is a new app built from the ground up with additional features.

What CopyClip 2 Adds

CopyClip 2 includes several features not available in CopyClip 1:

• Advanced search across your clipboard history
• Pinned clips for quick access to frequently used content
• Direct pasting into the active application
• Themes for customizing the app appearance
• Keyboard shortcuts for individual clips

Migrating Your History

Clipboard history does not migrate between CopyClip 1 and CopyClip 2. Your history in CopyClip 2 will start fresh.

Switching Over

Both apps can run side-by-side, but this is not recommended as they may conflict with each other when monitoring the clipboard.

To switch cleanly:

1. Install CopyClip 2 from the Mac App Store.
2. Configure CopyClip 2 with your preferred settings.
3. Confirm that CopyClip 2 is recording your clipboard correctly.
4. Quit and remove CopyClip 1.
