Display Count vs Remember Count

Understanding the difference between displayed clips and remembered clips in CopyClip

CopyClip has two separate settings that control how your clipboard history is managed:

  • Display count -- The number of clips shown in the menu bar dropdown.
  • Remember count -- The total number of clips stored in memory.

Why Are They Different?

Having a smaller display count keeps the menu bar dropdown short and easy to scan, while a larger remember count ensures older clips are still retained in the background. This is useful if you want a clean menu but do not want to lose older clips.

How to Access All Stored Clips

The only way to see clips beyond the current display count is to increase the display count:

  1. Right-click the CopyClip icon in your menu bar.
  2. Click Settings.
  3. Increase the Display value to match (or get closer to) your Remember value.

This will make all stored clips visible in the dropdown menu.

Note: Setting a very high display count may make the dropdown menu long. Adjust both values to find a balance that works for your workflow.
