Troubleshooting Delete Apps
Fix common issues with Delete Apps.
Not finding all leftover files
Grant Full Disk Access in System Settings > Privacy & Security > Full Disk Access. Without this, Delete Apps cannot scan protected directories like ~/Library.
Can't remove certain apps
System apps bundled with macOS (Safari, Mail, Photos, etc.) cannot be removed. Apps currently running must be quit first.
Files still remaining after deletion
Some files may be locked or protected by macOS. Try restarting your Mac and running the scan again. Some preference files may be recreated by macOS.
App not showing in the scan list
Delete Apps scans /Applications by default. If you've installed an app elsewhere, it may not appear. Drag the app onto the Delete Apps window to scan it manually.
Worried about deleting important files
Delete Apps shows you exactly what will be removed before deletion. Review the file list carefully. Files are moved to Trash by default, so you can restore them if needed.
