Getting Started with Disk Aid

Learn what Disk Aid is, explore its six built-in tools, and get up and running on your Mac.

What is Disk Aid?

Disk Aid is an all-in-one disk utility suite for your Mac. It cleans, optimizes, and protects your system while freeing up gigabytes of valuable disk space. The app runs as a standalone window with a dark sidebar listing its six tools on the left and the active tool's content area on the right.

The Six Tools

Disk Aid includes six powerful tools, each accessible from the sidebar:

  1. Dashboard -- A real-time overview of your Mac's CPU, memory, disk, battery, and network statistics.
  2. Disk Cleaner -- Scan for and remove caches, logs, trash, downloads, and other unneeded files.
  3. Duplicate Finder -- Locate and delete duplicate files to reclaim wasted space.
  4. Disk View -- Visualize disk usage with an interactive treemap so you can spot large files at a glance.
  5. Privacy Guard -- Scan for adware, browser data, cookies, and extensions that may compromise your privacy.
  6. App Uninstaller -- Completely remove applications along with their associated files.

First Launch

When you open Disk Aid for the first time, you are presented with the Dashboard. This screen provides a quick snapshot of your Mac's key system statistics, with certain figures updating in real time.

From here, click any tool in the sidebar to switch between Disk Aid's different functions.

Granting Full Disk Access

Disk Aid works best when it has Full Disk Access. Without it, macOS restricts which files and folders the app can see, leading to incomplete scan results.
