Troubleshooting Disk Aid

Fix common issues with Disk Aid.

Scan results incomplete or showing 0 bytes

Grant Full Disk Access in System Settings > Privacy & Security > Full Disk Access. Without this, Disk Aid cannot scan protected areas.

Dashboard shows incorrect system info

Try quitting and relaunching Disk Aid. System info is read from macOS APIs and should update on relaunch.

Duplicate Finder is slow

Duplicate scanning requires reading and hashing every file. Speed depends on disk size and type (SSD is much faster than HDD). First scans take longer.

Can't uninstall certain apps

System apps and apps that are currently running cannot be uninstalled. Quit the app first, then try again. macOS-bundled apps (Safari, Mail, etc.) cannot be removed.

Privacy Guard not finding browser data

Make sure the browser isn't running during the scan. Browser data is locked while the browser is open.

Disk View not showing all files

Grant Full Disk Access for a complete view. Without it, system-protected directories are excluded from the treemap.
