Getting Started with Disk Doctor Pro

What is Disk Doctor Pro?

Disk Doctor Pro is a professional disk cleaning app for Mac. It scans your hard drive for unneeded files -- such as application caches, logs, browser data, mail downloads, and more -- and helps you remove them to free up valuable disk space. The entire process takes just a few minutes.

First Launch

When you launch Disk Doctor Pro for the first time, the app gets straight to work and automatically scans your hard drive. There is no setup required -- simply open the app and let it scan.

The scanning process can take anywhere from a few seconds to several minutes depending on the size of your drive and whether you are using a Solid State Drive (faster) or a traditional Hard Drive (slower). The spinning icons next to each category indicate that the scan is still in progress.

Granting Full Disk Access

Disk Doctor Pro needs Full Disk Access permission to scan all areas of your Mac. Without it, macOS restricts which files and folders the app can see, and your scan results will be incomplete.

Tip: We recommend granting Full Disk Access before your first scan so you get the most accurate and complete results right away.

Making a Backup First

We always recommend making a Time Machine backup before removing files from your Mac. Files removed by Disk Doctor Pro are permanently deleted. You can learn how to set up Time Machine on Apple's support site.
