How Do I Scan All Areas of My Disk

Grant Full Disk Access to Disk Map so it can scan your entire drive on macOS Mojave and later.

Starting with macOS Mojave, Apple introduced privacy protections that prevent apps from accessing certain areas of your drive without explicit permission. Without Full Disk Access, Disk Map will still work but some folders may appear empty or be excluded entirely from the treemap because they cannot be read.

Granting Full Disk Access

To allow Disk Map to scan your entire drive, you need to enable Full Disk Access in System Settings. For step-by-step instructions, see our Full Disk Access guide.

Once Full Disk Access is enabled for Disk Map, restart the app and run a new scan. All areas of your drive will now be included in the treemap visualization.
