Treemap Navigation

The treemap is the core visualization in Disk Map. It displays your files and folders as color-coded blocks, each sized proportionally to the space it occupies. Larger blocks represent larger files or folders, so the biggest consumers of space are immediately visible.

Interacting with the Treemap

You can interact with the treemap in several ways:

• Click a block to drill into that folder and see its contents in more detail.
• Right-click a block to open a context menu with additional options (see below).
• Use the toolbar controls to zoom, reload the scan, delete selected items, or preview files with Quick Look.

Context Menu Options

Right-clicking a block opens a context menu with the following options:

• Compress -- Create a compressed archive of the file or folder.
• Delete -- Remove the file or folder from your drive.
• View in Finder -- Open the item's location in Finder.
• Ignore -- Add the item to the ignore list so it is excluded from future scans.

Deleting Files

Before deleting any files, we recommend creating a Time Machine backup so you can restore anything if needed.

Finishing Up

When you are done, click Finish to see a summary of how much space was freed. From there you can rescan or quit the app.
