Troubleshooting Download Shuttle

Fix common issues with Download Shuttle.

Download Stuck or Not Starting

Check your internet connection. Try pausing and resuming the download. Some servers do not support resumable downloads -- if the download fails after pausing, you may need to restart it from the beginning.

Slow Download Speeds

Download Shuttle uses multiple connections per file to maximise speed. If speeds are still slow, the limitation is likely on the server side or your internet connection. Check Settings > Connections to adjust the number of simultaneous connections.

Browser Extension Not Working

Make sure the extension is installed and enabled in your browser. For Safari, check Settings > Extensions. For Chrome and Firefox, check the extensions page. The extension sends download links to Download Shuttle -- if the app is not running, the extension will not work.

File Downloaded but Won't Open

The file may be quarantined by macOS. Right-click the file and select Open, then click Open in the dialog. Or check System Settings > Privacy & Security for a message about the blocked file.

Download Fails with an Error

Some servers require authentication or have geographic restrictions. Check if you can download the file directly in your browser first.

Downloads Going to Wrong Folder

Check Settings > General > Default Download Location to make sure it is set to your desired folder.
