Extraction Destination

Extractor gives you control over where extracted files are saved. You can configure this in the app's preferences:

• Same folder as archive -- Extracted files are placed in the same directory as the original archive file. This is the default behavior.
• Custom folder -- Choose a specific folder (for example, ~/Downloads/Extracted/) where all extractions will be saved.

Automatic Folder Creation

You can optionally have Extractor create a new folder for each extraction to keep things organized:

• Never -- Files are extracted directly into the destination folder.
• Use current date -- A folder named with today's date is created for each extraction.
• Use modification date -- A folder named with the archive's modification date is created.

Using automatic folder creation is a good way to keep your extracted files organized, especially when processing many archives over time.

Completion Actions

You can configure what happens after each extraction finishes. These options can be mixed and matched to suit your workflow:

• Open extracted folder -- Automatically opens the destination folder in Finder after extraction completes.
• Move archive to Trash -- Deletes the original archive file after successful extraction.
• Show notification -- Displays a macOS notification when extraction is done.
• Quit app when done -- Closes Extractor automatically after all extractions have finished.
