macOS Compatibility
Check which macOS versions FIPLAB apps support and what to do after upgrading.
FIPLAB apps are regularly updated to support the latest macOS releases. This article covers what you need to know about compatibility and what to do if something stops working after a macOS upgrade.
Supported macOS Versions
Each FIPLAB app lists its minimum supported macOS version on its product page at fiplab.com. Some older apps may not support the latest macOS release, so check the app's page if you are unsure.
After Upgrading macOS
If you have recently upgraded to a new version of macOS, follow these steps to make sure your FIPLAB apps continue to work correctly:
- Check for app updates. Open the Mac App Store and go to the Updates tab. If you use the direct-download version, visit fiplab.com and download the latest version.
- Restart your Mac. A fresh restart after a macOS upgrade can resolve many issues.
- Check permissions. Go to System Settings > Privacy & Security and look for any new permission prompts. macOS upgrades sometimes reset or require re-authorization of previously granted permissions.
If an App Stops Working After Upgrading
Try the following in order:
- Update the app to the latest version from the Mac App Store or fiplab.com.
- Restart your Mac.
- Open System Settings > Privacy & Security and verify that the app still has the permissions it needs (such as Accessibility, Full Disk Access, or Screen Recording).
- If the app still does not work, check the app's page on fiplab.com to confirm that your macOS version is supported.
Apple Silicon (M1, M2, M3, M4)
All actively maintained FIPLAB apps run natively on Apple Silicon Macs. If you are running an older Intel-only version on an Apple Silicon Mac, it will run through Rosetta 2, but updating to the latest version is recommended for the best performance and compatibility.
