Magic Trail is a fun app crafted to add special trailing effects to your mouse pointer. It’s simple, quirky and slick, working even with multiple monitors.
First Launch:
The app functions as a menubar app, running on the top of your screen. Upon first launch, you are presented with the following welcome screen:
Using the App:
To change features within the app, we suggest you click on the Preferences menu at this point (you can also access the Preferences menu by right clicking the Magic Trail menubar icon on the top of your Mac’s screen).
Toggle with Hotkey: This lets you assign a hotkey in order to enable or disable the magic trail effect quickly.
Start at Login: Enable this option to have Magic Trail launch at login, every time you start your Mac.
Hide Preferences on Startup: Magic Trail always launches the Welcome/Preferences dialog whenever the app is launched. Enabling this will mean that the popup dialog won’t appear every time you launch the app.
Enable Mouse Trail: Toggling this function on/off will determine whether your mouse pointer will have a trail or not.
Trail Style: Click on this drop down menu to see a list of all the trail styles that you can choose from, as seen below.
Trail Length: Drag the bar across to determine how short or long you would like your trail effect to be.
Hide Trail When Mouse is Not Moving: Toggle this on/off in order to either have a permanent trail animation, even when the mouse is not moving, or to then disable the trail animation when there is no mouse movement.
The first time you close the Preferences menu, you will be presented with the following dialog:
This dialog states that the the app will continue running in the background via your Mac’s menubar.
