Paste Plain Text is a simple app that automatically converts any text that you copy into plain text. This allows you to then easily paste text without any formatting/styling into any app of your choice thereafter.
First Launch and Using the App:
The app functions as a menubar app. Upon first launch, you will be presented with a welcome screen and you will also be able to see the Paste Plain Text menubar icon appear on the top of your Mac’s screen.
To see the app in action, we request you to first launch the app and then copy a body of text that contains formatting/styling (such as text in different fonts and sizes, bold text, underlined text, etc). You may then paste that text anywhere you desire and you will notice that the text is completely plain and all traces of formatting/styling have been removed.
Preferences:
By default, as long as the app is running in the background, it will continue to automatically convert any text you copy into plain text. Once the app is Quit, it will disable its functionality entirely.
You can alternatively choose to manually activate when the app converts formatted text into plain text by opening the Preferences menu within the app, as seen above, and unticking the option that says ‘Automatically clear formatting’. In this case, only when you select the tick box will the app convert text into plain text and clear any formatting whatsoever.
