How do I unlock my previous Extreme Clean purchase?

Instructions for unlocking a previously purchased Extreme Clean feature in Memory Clean 2 (Direct Version).

If you previously purchased Extreme Clean through the Mac App Store version of Memory Clean 1 or Memory Clean 2, you can unlock it for free in Memory Clean 2 (Direct Version) by following the steps below.

Step 1 -- Confirm your app version

Make sure you are running Memory Clean 2 (Direct) version 2.0.4 or higher. To check, open the app's Settings and look at the About section. If you are running an older version, update the app by right-clicking the menu bar icon and selecting Check for Updates.

Step 2 -- Select the original Mac App Store version

In Memory Clean 2 (Direct), open the Settings panel and go to the Extras section. Select the Mac App Store version of Memory Clean where you originally purchased Extreme Clean. If you are unsure whether you bought it in Memory Clean 1 or Memory Clean 2, check your iTunes email receipt.

If the Mac App Store version is no longer installed on your Mac, you can redownload it:

macOS Mojave and later:

  1. Open the Mac App Store.
  2. Sign in with your Apple Account (called Apple ID on older macOS versions).
  3. Click your name in the bottom-left corner of the window.
  4. Find the app in your purchase list.
  5. Click the Install button (cloud icon with a downward arrow).

Earlier macOS versions:

  1. Open the Mac App Store.
  2. Sign in with your Apple Account (called Apple ID on older macOS versions).
  3. Click the Purchases tab.
  4. Find the app in the list.
  5. Click Install.

Step 3 -- Verify the correct version is selected

If the unlock still does not work, double-check that you are selecting the correct version. You may have originally purchased Extreme Clean in Memory Clean 1 and then unlocked it for free in Memory Clean 2. In that case, you need to select Memory Clean 1 in the Extras section, as its app binary contains the original digital receipt required for verification.

  1. An archive (zip) of your Memory Clean Mac App Store app so we can verify the Extreme Clean digital receipt within the binary.
