Menu Bar Icon and Display

Customise what Memory Meter 3 shows in your Mac menu bar.

Memory Clean 3 (Memory Meter 3) lives in your Mac's menu bar and shows real-time memory usage information. You can customise what is displayed to suit your preferences.

Display options

You can choose from several display styles:

  • Percentage — shows the percentage of memory currently in use
  • Used/Free memory — shows the amount of memory used or available in GB
  • Pressure gauge — a visual indicator of current memory pressure
  • Icon only — a minimal icon with no text, saving menu bar space

How to change the display

  1. Click the Memory Clean 3 icon in the menu bar
  2. Open Settings
  3. Go to the Menu Bar tab
  4. Select your preferred display option

The icon colour changes based on your current memory pressure level:

  • Green — memory pressure is low, your Mac is running well
  • Yellow — memory pressure is moderate, consider cleaning memory
  • Red — memory pressure is high, cleaning memory is recommended

If the Memory Clean 3 icon is no longer visible in your menu bar, try the following:

  1. Check System Settings — go to System Settings > Control Center and make sure Memory Clean 3 is not hidden
  2. Relaunch the app — open Memory Clean 3 from your Applications folder to bring the icon back
  3. Check for notch conflicts — on MacBook Pro models with a notch, menu bar space is limited. Too many menu bar apps can cause icons to be hidden behind the notch. Consider switching to a compact display option or removing other menu bar items to free up space.

Macs with a notch

On MacBook Pro and MacBook Air models with a notch, the available menu bar space is reduced. If your menu bar is crowded, select a compact display option such as icon only or percentage to use less space.
