Troubleshooting Memory Clean 3

Fix common issues with Memory Clean 3 (Memory Meter 3).

Below are solutions to the most common issues reported with Memory Clean 3 (Memory Meter 3).

Memory didn't change after cleaning

This is normal behaviour. macOS manages memory efficiently and may not release memory immediately after a clean. macOS uses available memory as cache to speed up your Mac, so what appears as "used" memory is often cache that macOS will free automatically when an app needs it. When you run a clean, Memory Clean 3 frees inactive memory, but macOS may reallocate it quickly for caching purposes. This does not indicate a problem.

App uses too much memory itself

Memory Clean 3 uses a small amount of memory for its monitoring processes. If the memory usage appears unusually high, quit and restart the app. This typically resolves the issue.

Auto Clean not working

If automatic cleaning is not triggering as expected:

  1. Open Memory Clean 3 and go to Settings
  2. Navigate to the Auto Clean section
  3. Confirm that Auto Clean is enabled
  4. Check that the memory threshold is set to an appropriate level for your system

If the threshold is set too low, Auto Clean may never trigger because your free memory stays above that level.

Extreme Clean not available

Extreme Clean may need to be purchased or restored if it is not accessible. To restore a previous purchase:

  1. Open Memory Clean 3
  2. Go to the app menu
  3. Select Restore Purchases

If the restore does not work, make sure you are signed in with the same Apple Account or account used for the original purchase.

App not launching at login

If Memory Clean 3 does not start automatically when you log in to your Mac:

  1. Open System Settings > General > Login Items
  2. Check whether Memory Clean 3 is listed and enabled
  3. Alternatively, open Memory Clean 3 and enable the launch at login option in Settings

If the app still does not launch at login, try removing it from Login Items and adding it again.
