Smart Triggers

How to configure automatic activation triggers in Owly based on power, schedule, and running apps

Overview

Owly can activate automatically based on conditions you define. Open Settings and go to the Triggers tab to configure smart triggers.

Power Triggers

  • Enable when power connects -- Automatically activates sleep prevention when you plug in your charger.
  • Disable when power disconnects -- Automatically deactivates when you unplug, helping preserve battery life.

These triggers are useful if you want Owly to be active only while your Mac is connected to power, avoiding unnecessary battery drain.

Schedule Triggers

  • Enable on schedule -- Set a daily time window (for example, 09:00 to 18:00) during which Owly will keep your Mac awake automatically.

Schedule triggers are helpful for work hours or other recurring periods when you need your Mac to stay awake consistently.

App Triggers

  • Enable when trigger app opens -- Add specific apps to a trigger list. When any of those apps launch, Owly activates automatically. When the trigger app quits, Owly deactivates.

App triggers are useful for apps like disk utilities, media tools, or download managers that should not be interrupted by sleep. For example, you could add a video editing app so that Owly activates whenever you are working on a project and deactivates when you close the editor.

Combining Triggers

You can configure multiple triggers at the same time. For example, you could set Owly to activate on a schedule during work hours and also activate whenever a specific app is running. Triggers work independently -- any active trigger will keep Owly enabled.
