Paste Plain Text Settings
A reference for all settings available in the Paste Plain Text Settings panel.
The Settings panel lets you configure how Paste Plain Text behaves. Open it by clicking the Paste Plain Text icon in the menu bar and selecting Settings.

Settings
Automatically Clear Formatting
When enabled, all copied text is automatically converted to plain text in the background. Every paste will produce clean, unformatted text without any manual intervention.
When disabled, the app operates in manual mode. You must click Paste as Plain Text from the menu bar each time you want to strip formatting from the current clipboard contents.
This setting is enabled by default.
Launch at Login
When enabled, Paste Plain Text starts automatically every time you log in to your Mac. This ensures the app is always running and ready to strip formatting without needing to manually launch it.
For the best experience, enable this alongside Automatically Clear Formatting.
Show in Menu Bar
Controls whether the Paste Plain Text icon is visible in your menu bar. If you hide the icon, the app continues running in the background but you will need to relaunch it from your Applications folder to access Settings or the manual paste option.
Troubleshooting
The app is not running after restarting my Mac
Enable Launch at Login in Settings so the app starts automatically.
The menu bar icon is missing
Open Settings and make sure Show in Menu Bar is enabled. If you cannot access Settings, relaunch the app from your Applications folder.
