Settings
How to configure general preferences and keyboard shortcuts in Presentation Assistant.
The preferences panel in Presentation Assistant provides control over the app's general behaviour and quick-access settings.
General Settings
- Launch at login -- Start Presentation Assistant automatically when your Mac boots. This ensures the app is always available when you need it for an impromptu presentation or screen recording.
- Hide desktop icons -- Cover desktop icons with a clean backdrop while presenting. This removes visual clutter and gives your audience a professional-looking screen.
- Show in Dock -- Choose whether the app appears in your Dock, your menu bar, or both.
Toggle switches appear green when a preference is active.
Keyboard Shortcuts
You can assign custom keyboard shortcuts for the following actions:
- Toggle mouse pointer highlight -- Quickly enable or disable the cursor highlight effect without opening the settings panel.
- Toggle click effects -- Independently enable or disable click visualisation during a presentation.
These shortcuts allow you to switch features on and off in real time during a live presentation, keeping the flow smooth and uninterrupted.
Multi-Display and Full-Screen Support
Presentation Assistant works across multiple displays. Cursor highlights, click effects, and keystroke overlays follow your pointer to any connected screen. The app also works seamlessly in full-screen mode and across all Spaces, so your presentation tools remain visible regardless of which app or desktop you navigate to.
Accessing Settings
Open the preferences panel by clicking the Presentation Assistant icon in the menu bar and selecting the settings option. From there, you can configure all general behaviour, keyboard shortcuts, and feature-specific settings.
