Getting Started with Screen Tint
How to launch and begin using Screen Tint to apply colour overlays to your Mac display.
Screen Tint is a macOS utility that applies a colour overlay to your screen. It is designed to reduce eye strain, cut blue light exposure, and create a more comfortable viewing experience, especially during evening and late-night use.
Launching the App
Screen Tint runs as a menu bar app. When you first launch it, a welcome screen provides a brief overview of the app. You can also access the app at any time by clicking the Screen Tint icon in your Mac's menu bar.

Accessing Settings
To begin configuring the app, navigate to the Settings panel. You can reach it by selecting "Settings" from the left-hand column in the app window, or by clicking the menu bar icon and choosing "Settings" from the dropdown.

Enabling and Disabling the Tint
The main toggle in Settings controls whether the tint is active. Drag the slider to the on position to apply the tint overlay to your screen, or drag it to the off position to remove it.
You can also quickly toggle the tint on or off by clicking the Screen Tint icon in the menu bar.
Tips for Getting Started
- Start with a warm preset like Sunset or Amber for a comfortable evening tint.
- Begin with a lower colour intensity and increase it gradually until you find a level that feels right.
- Set up a schedule so the tint activates automatically each evening without any manual action.
