Keyboard Shortcuts

Learn how to use keyboard shortcuts and hotkeys to open Shortcut Bar and trigger shortcuts quickly.

Shortcut Bar supports keyboard shortcuts so you can access your shortcuts without reaching for the mouse.

Opening the Bar

You can assign a global hotkey to open the Shortcut Bar dropdown from anywhere on your Mac.

  1. Open Settings by right-clicking the Shortcut Bar icon in your menu bar and selecting Settings, or by pressing Cmd + , while the dropdown is open.
  2. Set your preferred key combination in the hotkey field.

Once configured, pressing your hotkey will open the Shortcut Bar dropdown no matter which app is in the foreground.

Triggering Individual Shortcuts

You can assign a keyboard shortcut to individual items within Shortcut Bar, letting you trigger a specific shortcut directly without opening the dropdown first.

This is especially useful for text snippets or frequently used files that you access many times a day.

Quick Access with the Menu Bar

If you prefer the mouse, simply click the star icon in your menu bar to open the dropdown, then click or double-click the item you want to open.
