Troubleshooting Shortcut Bar
Fix common issues with Shortcut Bar.
This article covers solutions to common issues with Shortcut Bar.
Shortcuts Not Pasting
Shortcut Bar needs Accessibility permission to paste content into applications. Check System Settings > Privacy & Security > Accessibility and make sure Shortcut Bar is toggled on.
If the permission is already enabled but pasting still fails, toggle it off, quit Shortcut Bar, toggle it back on, and relaunch the app.
Web Links Not Opening
Make sure the URL includes the full protocol prefix — either https:// or http://. A link entered as "example.com" may not open correctly.
Also check Settings for the default browser setting to ensure links open in the browser you expect.
Keyboard Shortcut Not Working
Check that the shortcut you assigned is not already in use by another app or by macOS itself. System-level shortcuts take priority and will prevent Shortcut Bar from responding.
Try assigning a different key combination to confirm whether the issue is a conflict.
Shortcuts Disappeared After Update
Shortcuts are stored locally on your Mac and may have been reset during the update. If you previously exported your shortcuts, you can re-import them from Settings. Otherwise, contact us for help recovering your data.
To avoid this in the future, periodically export your shortcuts as a backup. See the Export and Import article for instructions.
App Not Appearing in Menu Bar
Make sure Shortcut Bar is set to launch at login:
- Open System Settings > General > Login Items.
- Confirm that Shortcut Bar is listed.
- If it is not listed, add it manually.
If the app is running but the icon is not visible, it may be hidden behind other menu bar icons. Try holding Cmd and dragging menu bar icons to rearrange them.
