Themes and Notifications

Smart Countdown Timer lets you customise the look of the timer window and configure how you are alerted when a countdown finishes.

Themes and Appearance

Smart Countdown Timer supports both light and dark themes. You can choose a specific theme or let the app follow your macOS system appearance automatically.

You can also set a custom background image for the timer window, allowing you to personalise the look or match it to a presentation theme.

Notifications

When a countdown finishes, Smart Countdown Timer can alert you in several ways. Open the Notifications tab in Settings to configure these options.

System Notification

Display a macOS notification when the timer reaches zero. This appears as a standard notification banner, which is useful if you are working in another app and need a visual reminder.

Sound Alert

Play a built-in alarm sound when the countdown completes. You can choose from several sounds:

• Glass
• Xylo
• Marimba
• Digital
• Ding

Adjust the volume to suit your environment. You can optionally loop the sound until you dismiss it, ensuring you do not miss the alert.

Dock Bounce

The Dock icon bounces to grab your attention when the countdown finishes. This provides a visual cue even if you have notifications silenced or are listening to audio.

Combining Alerts

You can enable any combination of these alert types, or use all three together for maximum visibility. For example, you might enable the system notification and sound alert for personal use, or enable all three when the timer is running during a meeting or classroom activity.
