Settings

Access the Settings panel from the welcome screen or by clicking the menu bar icon and selecting Settings. The panel is divided into several sections.

General Settings

• Hotkey -- Assign a keyboard shortcut to show or hide the Space Drop shelf on demand. This lets you summon the shelf without needing to start a drag first.
• Launch at login -- Start Space Drop automatically when your Mac boots so the shelf is always available.
• Show Settings on launch -- Choose whether the Settings window appears each time the app starts. Disable this once you have finished configuring the app.
• Menu bar or Dock -- Control whether the app appears in the menu bar, the Dock, or both.
• Remove items on drag out -- When enabled, files are automatically removed from the shelf after you drag them to a destination. When disabled, files remain on the shelf until you manually remove them.

Drag Mode

Space Drop offers two drag modes:

• Copy files -- When you drag a file out of the shelf to a new location, a copy of the file is created at the destination. The original file remains in its original location.
• Move files -- When you drag a file out of the shelf, it is moved to the new location. The original file is removed from its previous location.

Note: Files will always be copied (not moved) when transferring between different storage drives. This is a macOS system behaviour that Space Drop cannot override.

Window Behaviour

The Window Behaviour section controls how and when the shelf appears.

By default, the shelf automatically appears when you begin dragging a file and hides when you stop. You can also configure it to appear only when triggered by a keyboard shortcut or by moving your cursor to a specific screen edge.

App Exceptions

You can set up an exception list to control which apps trigger or suppress the Space Drop shelf. To add an app to the exception list, click the "+" button at the bottom of the Window Behaviour panel.

Appearance

The Appearance section lets you customise the look of the shelf.

• Background colour -- Choose any colour for the shelf background using the full macOS colour picker.
• Opacity -- Adjust the transparency of the shelf window with the opacity slider.
• Animations -- Enable or disable the slide-in and slide-out animations when the shelf appears and disappears.
