Troubleshooting Space Drop

Shelf not appearing when dragging files

Space Drop activates when you drag a file towards the edge of your screen. Check Settings for the trigger position (top, bottom, left, or right edge). Make sure the app is running (check the menu bar icon).

Files disappearing from the shelf

Space Drop is a temporary staging area. Files on the shelf are references to the original files — if the original is moved or deleted, the shelf item becomes invalid. The shelf clears on restart unless you've enabled persistence in Settings.

Can't drop files onto the shelf

Some file types or drag sources may not be compatible. Try dragging from Finder instead of directly from an app.

Shelf is too small or in the wrong position

Check Settings to adjust the shelf size and position on screen.

Drag and drop not working at all

Space Drop may need Accessibility permission. Check System Settings > Privacy & Security > Accessibility.
