Getting Started with TaskTab

Learn how to launch TaskTab and start managing your tasks from the Mac menu bar.

Getting Started

When you first launch TaskTab, its icon appears in the menu bar at the top of your screen. You will also see a welcome screen with a button to manage your tasks.

Click the menu bar icon at any time to open the task list dropdown. This is where you will spend most of your time -- adding tasks, checking them off, and reviewing what is left.

Adding Tasks

There are two ways to add tasks:

From the menu bar dropdown -- Click the TaskTab menu bar icon to open the dropdown. Type a task name into the text field at the top and press Return. The task is added immediately to your pending list.

From the Manage Tasks window -- Click the Manage Tasks button (accessible from the welcome screen or the menu bar dropdown). In this window, click the Add Task button in the top-right corner, then type your task name.

TaskTab can display the number of remaining (incomplete) tasks as a badge next to its menu bar icon. This gives you a quick glance at how much is left without opening the app. You can toggle this counter on or off in Settings.

Keyboard Shortcut

You can set a custom global hotkey in Settings to open the TaskTab dropdown instantly from any app, without reaching for the mouse.

iCloud Sync

TaskTab syncs your tasks across all your Macs via iCloud. Add a task on one Mac and it appears on the others within seconds. No setup or account creation is required.

Light and Dark Mode

TaskTab supports both light and dark appearance modes and follows your macOS system preference automatically.
