Privacy and Security Permissions

macOS requires apps to request permission before accessing certain system features. When a FIPLAB app asks for a permission, it is because the app genuinely needs that access to function. This article explains which permissions FIPLAB apps use and why.

Permission Types

Full Disk Access

Apps: Disk Doctor Pro, Disk Map, Disk Aid, Duplicate Detective 2, Delete Apps, Disk Doctor

Full Disk Access allows these apps to scan all files on your disk, including system-protected directories. Without it, scans will be incomplete and the app will not be able to identify all files taking up space.

Accessibility

Apps: CopyClip 2, Shortcut Bar, Window Manager, Paste Plain Text, Power Menu, Presentation Assistant, Window Focus

Accessibility access is required for apps that need to register global keyboard shortcuts, perform paste actions, or manage window positions. macOS gates these capabilities behind the Accessibility permission to protect user input.

Screen Recording

Apps: Presentation Assistant, Screen Tint, Window Focus

Screen Recording permission is needed by apps that overlay content on top of other windows or capture screen content. macOS treats any app that reads or draws over the screen as requiring this permission.

Notifications

Apps: Battery Health 3, Memory Meter 3, RSS Bot, Download Shuttle

These apps use notifications to send you alerts about battery status, memory usage, new RSS items, or download progress. Notification permissions can be managed in System Settings.

Automation

Apps: Power Menu, Shortcut Bar

Automation permission allows these apps to interact with Finder and other applications to perform actions on your behalf, such as opening files, running scripts, or triggering workflows.

How to Check and Change Permissions

1. Open System Settings.
2. Navigate to Privacy & Security.
3. Select the relevant permission category from the list (Full Disk Access, Accessibility, Screen Recording, etc.).
4. Find the FIPLAB app and toggle it on or off.

If a permission toggle is greyed out, you may need to click the lock icon and authenticate with your Mac password before making changes.

Privacy Commitment

FIPLAB apps do not collect or transmit personal data. All permissions are used locally on your Mac to provide the app's features. No file contents, clipboard data, screen captures, or personal information are sent to FIPLAB or any third party.
