Getting Started

Window Focus runs as a menu bar app. When you first launch it, a welcome screen provides a brief overview and the Window Focus icon appears in the menu bar at the top of your screen.

Click the menu bar icon at any time to quickly enable or disable the dimming overlay, or to open Settings.

How It Works

Once enabled, Window Focus places a tinted overlay behind your active window. When you switch to a different window, the overlay follows automatically. The transition is instant -- there is no lag or flicker.

The dimming effect works across all apps and across all desktops and Spaces on your Mac.

Click the Window Focus icon in the menu bar to quickly enable or disable the overlay without opening Settings. This is the fastest way to toggle the effect on and off as needed throughout your day.
